The RIBA: Ibstock EM Awards are awarded annually by the Royal Institute of British Architects East Midlands to recognise excellence in architecture within the region. The 2005 winners were announced at the awards ceremony in December 2005.

Eleven outstanding buildings across the East Midlands have been shortlisted for this year’s award.

They are:-

Leicester’s LCB Depot, a new arts building on Rutland Street in the emerging St Georges’ cultural quarter (designed by Ash Sakula)

Stephenson College in Thornborough Road, Coalville (Pick Everard)

The Defence Sixth Form College in forest road, Woodhouse, Loughborough (HLM Architects)

The University of Lincoln’s East Midlands Media and Technology Centre (UL Architects)

Whitton’s Mill, an apartment scheme for the frail elderly in Gainsborough (West & Machell Ltd)

Thornham, a modern, environmentally sustainable new home in Northing Lane, Scothern, Lincolnshire (Place, Architecture Ltd)

SureStart Rosehill’s Big Building, a childcare centre in Lowerdale Road, Derby (Derek Trowell Architects)

Lacemakers House, St Mary’s Gate, Derby, a sustainable, low energy family home in Nottingham’s Lace Market (Marsh:Grochowski)

John A Stephens’ new builders merchants warehouse and showroom in Castle Meadow Road, Nottingham (Marsh:Grochowski)

Bilborough College ’s new sixth Form building, Nottingham (CPMG)

The Volkswagen Group Apprentice Training Centre in Ruddington, Nottingham (Marchini Curran Associates).

An additional “out of region” project, a technically challenging lift installation at the University of Sheffield’s Federick Mapping Bilding (CPMG), has also been shortlisted for an award.

The winning buildings will be announced on November 6 at Nottingham Council House.
